The 2017 Office of National Fellowships annual recognition dinner to honor all the applicants and faculty members who have worked with the office over the past year was held on March 22, 2017. Among those in attendance were Dr. Joe O'Shea, Assistant Vice President from the Provost's Office and Dr. Sara Hamon, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

The evening began with Dr. O'Shea welcome address where he reflected on his own experiences with the Fellowship Program at FSU.

We then heard from:

Ariel Giumarelli, a Fulbright Scholar who is currently finishing her final semester as a Juris Doctorate candidate at Harvard Law
School, delivered the keynote address which highlighted the confidence she gained from the ONF application process and the importance of transformative educational experiences.

Daniel Bell was the student speaker this year.  Bell is the current president of the Student Alumni Association among other leadership positions. He gave inspiring advice about the value of learning and the ONF application process.

After the students were recognized for completing the application process, Associate Dean Hamon charged the students to give back to the university and mentor younger students.

Following the speakers, students and faculty shared a conversation over a delightful banguet spread over three floors of the Honors, Scholars and Fellows House. This atmosphere provided a unique opportunity for everyone to reflect on how far the students have traveled, and to look forward to their future projects and goals.
